Thank you for helping Anchorage Opera make MAGIC again as we return to LIVE performances!
We appreciate your gift in ANY amount especially during this time of recovery. You’ve felt the power of opera to touch our souls, how a classic favorite can reconnect you to things that matter to you or a how a new work can take you by storm and change your life. Opera brings joy and wonder at a time when we all need it most…
- “We are living in operatic times. Forget what you’ve heard about opera being remote and elitist. Opera is also the art form that, perhaps more than any other, specializes in heightened emotion, and in finding ways to communicate it.” Anne Midgette – Washington Post
- “After silence, that which comes nearest to expressing the inexpressible is music.” – Aldous Huxley
Ticket sales only account for 30% of our operating expenses and your gift truly makes a difference. We rely heavily on private donations, grants, and fundraising events events all of which are also impacted now.
Only with the continuing support of dedicated patrons like you can we realize our mission of being the center of artistic creation, innovation and education through the presentation of opera and related events encouraging public collaboration and community engagement for the people of the State of Alaska. Thank you for being an important part of achieving this mission.

It is with great sorrow that we share the news of the passing of our dear friend, Richard Block. It is extremely difficult to imagine Anchorage Opera without Dick; his immense contributions to AO over the decades have not only helped our company grow and thrive but shaped its very core mission, serving on the AO Board from 2005-2013, as its Treasurer from 2005-2008 and as its President from 2008-2010. He and his beloved wife Diane were true patrons of the arts in Anchorage, generously supporting innumerable AO productions through their Richard L. and Diane M. Block Foundation, helping provide housing for guest artists and ensuring a future legacy for our work through the Anchorage Opera Foundation Endowment which he established some years ago. Both in his service and his philanthropy he was a “hard act to follow”. Reed will miss his “Breakfasts with Dick” and our entire AO Family will miss seeing his smiling face in the Dress Circle of our Saturday night performances at the PAC. We are grateful for the time we had with him on this earth. We send our deepest condolences to his entire family at this difficult time. May his memory be a blessing to his loved ones: we are truly blessed to count ourselves among them.

There are many ways to support AO!
Bequests or Memorial and Tribute Funds are ways to celebrate your loved ones as well as your favorite charitable organization.
Gifts of Securities, Real Estate, or Property are excellent alternatives to cash donations and offer great tax benefits.
Matching Gifts are an important way to double, or even triple, your gift to AO. Please be sure to include the appropriate form with your contribution.
Corporate Giving not only benefits AO, but also benefits your company. Corporate donations send a powerful message to Alaskans and allow for the opportunity to reach diverse populations. We can tailor a sponsorship package to suit your company’s needs, including:
▪ Complimentary tickets to Anchorage Opera shows and events.
▪ Your logo featured on Anchorage Opera’s website homepage, displayed on all print materials, projected above the stage at performances and acknowledged in all media.
▪ Your advertisement included in all our season program books with prime placement (possibly even the coveted back cover or interior cover pages for maximum visibility and impact) and featured prominently in our E-newsletters and social media
▪ And even more great perks! Want to find out more? Please contact us directly to discuss the exciting possibilities.
In-Kind Giving is another way to make a non-cash donation to Anchorage Opera.

As it was in the beginning, generous individuals and institutions from all parts of the community including the members of AO’s Board of Trustees, a dedicated core of volunteers, the Anchorage Opera Guild and many others give of themselves and their resources to ensure that AO’s grand tradition of enriching Alaskan life continues undiminished.

Anchorage Opera acknowledges that we gather and are performing on the traditional lands of the Dena’ina Athabascans. For thousands of years the Dena’ina have been and continue to be the stewards of this land. It is with gratefulness and respect that we recognize the contributions, innovations, and contemporary perspectives of the upper Cook Inlet Dena’ina.
