“The story we need to tell; the women we must remember”
When Ava, a young white woman, is thrown from her car and badly injured in a crash, she sees another body, a young native girl, lying on the ground. Their eyes meet…their worlds connect. This USA premiere production, indigenous led and cast, gives voice (in English and Gitxsan) to the stories of missing and murdered indigenous women and girls. Hailed as an “extraordinarily moving and thought-provoking work…a milestone for the opera world…a healing journey in a magnificent mélange of singing, acting and music”, Missing is a poetic expression of loss, hope and the spirit finding home.
In English and Gitxsan with English and Gitxsan supertitles
Featuring local stars & internationally acclaimed artists, Kira Neta Apaachuaq Eckenweiler, Kate Bass, Zaide Manzano, Luke Honeck, Marion Newman, Evan Korbut & Camille Sherman,
with Timothy Long – Conductor
