A special production of Aklaq and Nayak (An Alaska Native Adaptation of Hansel & Gretel), in conjunction with the University of Alaska Anchorage’s Opera Ensemble, will take the stage this holiday season in the Fine Arts Building on the UAA campus. Music by Engelbert Humperdinck and directed by Mari Hahn with an all new libretto in English, this new production will infuse the traditions of opera with indigenous Alaskan culture and storytelling. Perfect for children of all ages and everyone young at heart!
