COVID Policies 2021-22

Dear Friends of Anchorage Opera,

Your health, safety and well-being, and that of all our artists, staff, crew, orchestra, technical team and venue staff continues to be of utmost importance to us. We have therefore instituted a policy that anyone employed by our company must be fully vaccinated. To date, all our guest artists and our entire Anchorage Opera team have expressed their appreciation for this policy which will make them feel safer during the rehearsal process and performances. We hope this also gives you peace of mind and confidence to attend our shows.

We join our partners at the Alaska Center for the Performing Arts in issuing the following COVID-19 mitigation requirements to ensure safe and successful live performances in Anchorage.

Subject to Change
All COVID-19 Protocols are temporary and subject to change.

Proof of Vaccination, Negative Test, or Recent Recovery
All attendees must provide one of the following:

  • Proof of vaccination against COVID-19 completed at least 2 weeks prior to the event
  • Proof of a negative result for a COVID-19 test taken within 72 hours of the event
  • Proof of recovery from a positive COVID-19 diagnosis no more than 90 days prior to the event and no less than 11 days prior to the event.

Face Coverings Required
Face masks must be worn over the nose and mouth by all audience members.

These requirements will remain in place while transmission levels in Anchorage are High or Substantial according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention and Alaska’s Department of Health and Social Services

As we celebrate our return to LIVE performances at the PAC, I want to thank you personally for patiently weathering the COVID crisis with us. We hope we can count on your continuing support in our 2021-22 Season of Healing by purchasing tickets and, if possible, including a donation when you do. We’ve been busy during the pandemic applying for and receiving special government funding, as well as foundation and corporate grants, allowing us to keep our 4 full time staff employed and to hit the ground running now, for which we are extremely grateful. But as we open up again and start to produce full operas, with orchestra, leading artists, chorus, costumes, hair and makeup, set and lighting designers, technical crew, word class stage directors and conductors, we once again need your support to help us bring the magic back to the PAC. Don’t forget that ticket sales only cover only about 30% of the cost of producing opera.
Thank you so much for your patronage. We couldn’t do it without you, and we can’t wait to share all the magic of LIVE opera with you again.

Our deep commitment to our community means that we must ‘play our role’ in curbing the spread of the COVID pandemic among us. But difficult times only serve to reaffirm our commitment to “Enrich. Inspire. Educate. Collaborate. Build Community, one note at a time”. As we work together to open back up, we’re humbled and grateful in the knowledge that our strongest asset is the continuing support of our community.
