Artist statement & philosophy:
Let yourself be quietly drawn by the deeper pull of what you truly love.
—Rumi—
“I make my art because I love everything about it. I love the materials. I love the way it feels, the way it looks, and the physical process of making it. I especially love the fact that I can guide the materials but not dictate the outcome.
The colors and textures of the tropical seas, the highland heathers, the surreal plant life of the southern hemisphere and the textural surfaces of old granite all are sources from which I garner inspiration. I shamelessly use my art as a reason to be in places that have tropical seas, highland heathers, weathered granite and weird plants.
My work is designed to encourage people to consider possibilities outside the boxes of scarf, shawl, or wearable. The same beautiful nunofelt pieces that can enjoy many incarnations as scarves, belts, hip huggers, hat bands/bows, ascots, or ecclesiastical stoles, can certainly be equally enjoyed as wall hangings, table runners, cabinet clusters, banners, draperies, and altar cloths.”
Let the beauty you love be what you do.
