About the Event
Christmas for the Animals is an annual tradition and the zoo’s longest running event. Share the love with your community and the animals of the Alaska Zoo.
The zoo will be open 10am to 8pm with Zoo Lights happening from 5-8pm (last entry is at 7:30pm)
Zoo members are free from 10am-8pm on December 4th
Non-members: Regular admission rates apply from 10am-5pm, then Zoo Lights rates apply from 5-8pm.
Event Details:

An Artisan’s Bazaar in the Gateway Hall from 10am-4pm.

Caroling by Anchorage Opera and the Anchorage Opera Overture Council (3 – 6 pm)
Students from the O’Malley Elementary Choir will also carol (1:30 – 2 pm) -
Visitors can bring some or all of the following donations:

Food donations for the zoo animals to be placed in habitat stockings from 2-5pm (or in bins at the front of the zoo after 5pm). Check the approved list of items here.

Food donations for the Food Bank of Alaska to be placed in barrels near the entrance. Check this list for the most needed food items.

Photos with Santa Discovery Center from 2-4pm.

A bonfire near the old entrance from 2-8pm.

Kape Espresso Tayo coffee truck on hand for drink and snack purchases.

Holiday-themed animal enrichment made by zookeepers for the animals.
