Missing – March 8, 10, 11 & 12, 2023

by Marie Clements (Librettist) & Brian Current (Composer)
“The story we need to tell; the women we must remember”

When Ava, a young white woman, is thrown from her car in a crash and badly injured, she sees another body, a young native girl, lying on the ground. Their eyes meet…their worlds connect. This USA premiere production of Missing, by distinguished First Nations playwright Marie Clements & Juno-award winning composer Brian Current, gives voice, in English and the Native language, Gitxsan, to the stories of missing and murdered Indigenous women and girls. A poetic expression of loss, hope and the spirit finding home.

Carmen – May 5, 6 & 7, 2023

by George Bizet
SEDUCTION, OBSESSION, BETRAYAL…what could possibly go wrong?

No man can resist the fiery seductress, Carmen, who knows what she wants and knows how to get it. To live free and to die free is her credo. But be careful what you wish for when fate deals its final hand. Don José, obsessed with and possessed by Carmen, sacrifices everything to follow her into a life of crime, only to have her leave him for the dashing bullfighter, Escamillo. But in a realm where desire and hot-blooded passion reign supreme, blind love can turn to blind rage and love triangles can be deadly! One of the most popular operas of all time, Bizet’s flamenco-infused music overflows with famous melodies including the ‘Habanera’ and Toreador Song. With its themes of lust, violence and toxic masculinity, Carmen burns just as searingly as it did 150 years ago.
